Ami Pascual Spear is currently the Regional Director of Philanthropy for Mercy Housing California, the largest division of Mercy Housing, Inc., an affordable housing organization. Prior to joining Mercy Housing, Ami sourced and helped underwrite loans for a community fund and New Markets Tax Credit program as Program Director at Genesis LA, a community development financial institution.
She was also a strategic planning and organizational development consultant and raised over $4.7 million in funding for nonprofits. Ami was the founder and executive director of the SoMa Foundation where she delivered technical assistance to San Francisco businesses, created loan programs to finance women and minority-owned establishments, and operated SoMa Steam Clean, a social enterprise that employed formerly homeless youth and adults. She has a Masters degree in City and Regional Planning from UC Berkeley and a Bachelors in Arts degree in English and American Literature from UCLA. She is the recipient of a Rockefeller Foundation leadership award and fellowship on Democracy.
