Benjamin is a career public servant. He served honorably in the United States Air Force from 2002 to 2010. Upon separating from Active Duty, Benjamin pursued his graduate degree in Public Administration while transitioning into Higher Education Law Enforcement. He served in this role for three years, which facilitated his relocation from Maryland to California in 2012.
Upon arriving in California, Benjamin pursued opportunities in local government to continue his service to the community. He was selected into the highly competitive Los Angeles County Management Fellow Program, completing the two-year fellowship in the inaugural cohort. Benjamin has promoted through the management ranks of the Los Angeles County Treasurer and Tax Collector (TTC), becoming the Operations Chief of the Public Service Division. In this role, Benjamin oversees a team of tax services professionals in providing service to the 2.3 million property owners, businesses, lenders, and mortgage companies owning or having interest in real property located in Los Angeles County. Benjamin has spearheaded several customer service enhancements for the TTC, including the 2014 re-design of the Property Tax Telephone System, the launch of several online self-service applications, and most recently assisted in the launch of the departments new website. Benjamin remains invested in local government, because he can see the impacts in his own backyard. |
