Jose Esquivel graduated from University of Southern California (USC) in May, 2000 earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. He went on to work for The Dow Chemical Company as a Process Control Specialist where he designed and programmed chemical plant control systems at their Plaquemine, LA facility. While at the Plaquemine facility he was promoted to the role of Production Specialist managing the Ethylene Oxide/Ethylene Glycol plant. In 2004, he transferred to Dow's Los Angeles Operations based in Torrance, CA. He returned to USC pursuing a dual Master’s Degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering and Business Administration graduating in December, 2007. Jose was awarded the HENAAC (Hispanic Engineering National Awards and Achievement Conference) Luminary award in 2006.
Upon completion of his Master’s Degree, he accepted the role of Assistant Brand Manager at Procter and Gamble in Cincinnati, OH. In September, 2007 Jose returned to the chemical industry as a Regional Operations Engineer at Basic Chemical Solutions (BCS). In 2010, when BCS was acquired by Univar, he moved into a process improvement role where he worked primarily on the commercial side of the business. As the Senior Manager of Procurement Strategy and Business Analytics at Univar he implemented their initial national procurement strategies improving overall purchasing decisions. In 2012, also at Univar, he earned a Six Sigma Black Belt certification. Jose accepted the Director, Procurement role at Behr Process Corporation (a division of Masco Corporation) in 2015 where he currently drives strategic purchasing strategies, profitable growth, and leading-edge technology in architectural coatings. For the last 5 years, Jose has led continuous improvement of Behr’s supplier and category management and has been involved in multiple product launches. |
