Malee Tobias, Senior Vice President and CMO, is the leader of Newland’s marketing, giving the team a customer-focused direction in community visioning, branding and marketing strategy, customer engagement, market research and consumer insights. With the consumer as the focal point, Malee works with Newland’s operating divisions nationwide to delve into what home shoppers want in a community, neighborhood and home, what matters to them and how they want to live. Malee strategizes with teams on buyer-centric development, brand, and communications strategies that align with consumer priorities and what they value. Malee is an integral member of the regional project teams, collaborating to identify market and customer opportunities, market positioning, branding and marketing strategies, acquisitions, development strategy, and product planning.
Malee has more than 20 years of experience in real estate and development. Malee joined Newland in 2006 to lead research, integrating economic and marketplace trends, consumer insights, and customer and product segmentation to drive development strategies, community planning, and the company’s core business. Prior to joining Newland, Malee was Vice President at RCLCO, a national advisory firm serving the real estate industry across the US. Malee has also held positions at the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, UCLA Center for the Study of Urban Poverty, and the City of Los Angeles. Malee is a full member of Urban Land Institute and is Chair of ULI’s Community Development Council (Green Flight). Malee is a graduate of UCLA, where she received a double major in Economics and Political Science. She received a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Urban Planning from Harvard University, with a concentration in urban development, housing, and real estate. Malee is a Woodrow Wilson Fellow in Public Policy and International Affairs. |
