Yvonne Mariajimenez is President & CEO of Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County (NLSLA), a private, non-profit law firm funded to provide free legal services to low-income individuals and families residing in Los Angeles County. NLSLA focuses legal advocacy in those areas that most impact the poor: access to housing, health care, family and domestic violence, workers’ rights, public benefits, consumer and immigration. NLSLA has a budget of $21 million, a staff of 160, including 70 lawyers, who provided services to over 150,000 people in 2019, including more than 5,000 attorney assisted cases.
Yvonne has a demonstrated background in litigation and policy advocacy in poverty law. Yvonne’s role as a legal aid lawyer is personal to her as she grew up in the communities NLSLA serves. Yvonne earned her B.S. in Business Administration at USC in 1978 and her J.D. at Loyola Law School, Los Angeles in 1984. She is fluent in written and spoken Spanish.
