Executive DirectorSimon Family FoundationBen is the Executive Director for the Simon Family Foundation and Simon Scholars Program. He works with a passionate team to create opportunities for high-achieving, low-income and first-generation college students who have an intrinsic desire to succeed despite their personal or economic adversities with the ultimate goal of creating the next generation of leaders. Currently, Ben is leading an expansion of the Simon Scholars Program in Orange County by 100%. Through his professional, volunteer and life experiences, he has learned the value of well-run philanthropic and customer-centric organizations and has seen their abilities to lift others up.
Prior to working in philanthropy, Ben was a franchisee of Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt, operating three locations in North County San Diego and managing a team of 36 employees. Prior to Menchie’s, Ben was employed at various restaurants, hotels and resorts where he held many Front of House positions, including Guest Services Manager at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa. Ben received his Bachelor’s in Organizational Management from Ashford University and holds certificates in Nonprofit Finance and Product Strategy from Cornell University and Northwestern’s, Kellogg School of Management. In the Orange County community, Ben serves as an active committee member for Orange County Grantmakers, and in his personal life, he loves spending time with his wife and two-year-old son. He is also an avid NBA fan and enjoys rooting for the Los Angeles Lakers. |
