Areas of Expertise
As Executive Director of Waymakers since 2015, Ronnetta Johnson has taken a visionary approach to the future of an agency which has served the Orange County community for nearly five decades. From a rebranding effort which changed the agency name and messaging to a change in the leadership structure, from program expansion to facilitation of staff and board development, Ms. Johnson has focused on strategies that will ensure the agency’s vital services will be available for future generations.
Ms. Johnson’s involvement in the non-profit environment began shortly after college and has included work as the director of volunteer services for a hospital and director of children’s services for an agency that granted wishes and provided diversionary activities for children with serious or life threatening illnesses. In both positions, Ms. Johnson worked to redevelop the training programs for volunteer staff.
Ms. Johnson originally joined Waymakers in 1995. Within the agency she has held the positions of Program Director for Victim Assistance Programs (1995 – 2001), Director of Human Resources (2001 – 2004), Director of Victim Assistance Programs (2004 – 2015), and Executive Director (2015 – Present). During her tenure with Waymakers, Ms. Johnson has developed and implemented a variety of trainings and seminars and has been instrumental in the creation of service components which have gained national, state, and local recognition as best practice models.
Ms. Johnson holds a master’s degree in organizational leadership with a certificate in servant leadership from Gonzaga University and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Utah.
